Power BI is a business analytics service by Microsoft that provides interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end-users to create their own reports and dashboards. It allows users to connect to a wide variety of data sources, both on-premises and in the cloud, to create visually compelling and interactive insights.

Essentially you can connect to various sources such as Excel, text files, cloud storage such as SharePoint, and some SaaS such as QuickBooks, SAP, or NAV and bring them to applications to transform for cleaning and to build financial reports, business performance reports, and other analysis reports. This process can be automated and generate real-time reports with just a one-click or scheduled refresh.
